How to Choose an OEM Air Purifier Manufacturer: A Practical Checklist for Importers and Brand Owners

What separates a reliable OEM factory from a trading company? This guide covers the key criteria to evaluate before placing your first order.

Sourcing an OEM air purifier manufacturer is not simply about finding the lowest unit price. The right factory partner determines your product quality, certifications, lead time, after-sales filter supply and ultimately your brand reputation in the market. This checklist covers the six most important criteria for evaluating a potential OEM air purifier supplier.

1. Does the Factory Have an Existing Product Range That Matches Your Market?

A strong OEM factory will have an established range of models covering different room sizes, form factors and feature sets. This matters because:

  • You can sample and evaluate before committing to tooling costs
  • Existing models have already passed basic safety testing
  • You can launch faster by customising an existing model rather than developing from scratch

Ask the factory to share their product catalogue and request 4-image sets per model: front view, lifestyle scene, filter structure and detail view. This tells you how seriously they invest in product presentation — which reflects directly on their ability to support your marketing materials.

2. Can They Support the Certifications Your Target Market Requires?

Certification requirements vary by country and sales channel:

MarketRequired CertificationsSales Channel Notes
United StatesFCC, ETL/UL, CARB (California)Amazon US requires FCC; CARB for California retail
European UnionCE, RoHS, ERP DirectiveRequired for retail; Amazon EU enforces CE
United KingdomUKCA (post-Brexit), RoHSCE no longer sufficient for UK market alone
Australia / NZRCM (C-Tick + A-Tick)Mandatory for electrical goods

Always ask the factory to provide existing certificate copies before sampling. A factory that cannot show existing CE or FCC certificates for similar products will likely struggle to support your certification requirements on time.

3. Do They Offer True OEM/ODM Support — or Just Price Quotes?

A genuine OEM factory can support: logo placement on product and packaging, custom colour options, manual translation and design, carton marking, filter packaging design and SKU planning. A trading company will typically provide a price quote but outsource all customisation work, leading to longer lead times and less control.

Ask directly: "Can you show me examples of previous private label projects you have completed for export markets?" Look for branded retail packaging samples, not just generic product photos.

4. What Is the MOQ and How Flexible Is It?

For new buyers, MOQ flexibility is critical. A good OEM factory should support:

  • Sample orders of 1–5 units for initial evaluation
  • Trial orders of 50–200 units for market testing
  • Bulk production from 300–500 units with full customisation

Be cautious of factories that require minimum 1,000 units for first orders with no sample option — this is often a sign of limited flexibility or a trading company acting as intermediary.

5. Can They Provide Reliable After-Sales Filter Supply?

An air purifier is only as good as its ongoing filter supply. Before committing to a model, confirm: the replacement filter part number, recommended replacement interval, minimum reorder quantity for filters, and whether the factory can provide custom-branded filter packaging for your brand.

6. What Information Should You Provide When Requesting a Quote?

To receive an accurate and actionable quote, provide the following:

  • Target country and sales channel (Amazon, retail, distributor, project)
  • Estimated quantity (sample / trial / bulk)
  • Required plug standard and voltage
  • Required certifications
  • Customisation requirements (logo, packaging, colour, manual)
  • Target retail price or price direction
